I can understand my father to a point. He was always pretty good to me before he went away to Vietnam, and it’s only now after I’ve been diagnosed with depression that I can see that this was my old man’s problem too. Having fought in Vietnam and seen the things he saw, he came back a completely changed man.

I was speeding along and it was pouring with rain. I took the Murphy’s Creek turn-off and decided that it was time to die. I took my hands off the steering wheel, put my foot flat on the accelerator and rolled the car.
